Advent 2023: Keep Watch! He Is at the Gates.

In the Gospel reading for the First Sunday of Advent (Mark 13:33-37) this year, Jesus tells His disciples, “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.”

This passage, and the whole Advent season, is a powerful reminder that Jesus is always near to us and that we should be always keeping watch for Him. He is there in the Eucharist, He is there in prayer—and one day, we will be reunited with Him.
